Wineries We are very fortunate to be nestled in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains where numerous wineries have found a home for their vineyards. Those listed below are located within a 10-40 minute drive from Harpers Ferry. Most offer wine tasting and special events. You can click on the vineyard name to visit their website and schedules.
Located about 25 minutes from Harpers Ferry, the Antietam Battlefield is an extensive National Park. This is a good park to experience by bike or car. If by car, you may want to obtain a CD at the visitor's center for directing you about the park and providing an excellent tour as well. As it is just outside of Shepherdstown, it makes a nice afternoon activity followed by dinner in Shepherdstown.
Mountain Heritage Craft Festival
This outstanding Arts and Crafts Festival is hosted by the Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce twice each year. Great Music and Food accompany the extensive display of crafts and their artisans. Book your reservations early for these weekends they are very popular.
Over the Mountain Studio Tour
Always held Mid-November, the Over the Mountain Studio Tour is a two day, free, self-guided driving tour taking you through historic Jefferson County to the studios of over 20 selected Artisans.
Contemporary American Theater Festival
Held in Shepherdstown every July, the CATF is a fantastic theater festival of at least 4 play that run all month. The play schedule is supplemented by discussions and interviews in connection with the plays.
Charles Town Races and Slots is open 7 days and located about 10 minutes from the Angler's Inn. The Casino holds thousands of slot machines and horse racing schedules may be obtained at their website. Horse racing is also simulcasted at the track.
We are fortunate to have the Summit Point Raceway just about 20 minutes from the Angler's Inn providing a variety of auto racing events, educational and training programs. If you will be staying with us for during a training program we are pleased to provide you an early continental breakfast before your departure each morning.
